Classes and talents

Shadow Dungeon launches with four classes: Necromancer (summoner, S-tier at launch), Holy Warrior (shield tank, S-tier), Sorcerer (AoE crowd control, A-tier) and Archer (longest range, A-tier). Each class has three talent trees — twelve across the game — and late-game skill points stop being a constraint, so hybrid builds are encouraged.

Naming note: some reviews use casual names — Paladin for Holy Warrior, Mage or Sorceress for Sorcerer, Ranger for Archer. They refer to the same four classes.

  • Full tier framing and pick advice: see our classes page.
  • 12 talent trees total; respec is cheap (one free forgetfulness potion, then ~8,000 gold).
  • Roadmap: additional classes are planned per community-tracked announcements.

Loot, sets and the blacksmith

Weapon affixes roll in five categories: Basic, Special, Negative Effects, Skills, and Summoning Skills. Summoner builds care especially about Summoning Skills — specific affixes convert standard skeletons into death sentinels or specialized archers.

The 15 class-exclusive armor sets are the backbone of endgame builds: full-set bonuses grant effects loose items cannot (skill damage, cooldown reduction, triggers on attack, automatic defensive buffs). The blacksmith supports aggressive enhancement to about +20 plus affix rerolls.

  • Resistances roll on gear and matter on higher rift difficulties.
  • Skill runes: 370 talent + 6,800 equipment runes exist as rift-exclusive rewards.
  • Golden Hammer: an Inferno-difficulty drop tracked by endgame players.

Endgame and world reference

The world is structured as 160 story levels across seven acts, with waypoints, town portals, shrines, a mercenary system, and a DPS test dummy in town. Greater Rifts (Normal / Master / Nightmare / Inferno) are the post-story endgame with the best loot odds.

Every entry on this wiki carries a verified date. Shadow Dungeon patches frequently — numbers you see elsewhere may be outdated, so check the version scope before committing a build.

  • 7 acts · 160 levels · ~30–50 hours to the credits.
  • Permanent potions grant lasting stats; forgetfulness potions reset talents.
  • Auto-attack and auto-cast are toggleable; loot filters and sell-by-rarity streamline inventory.
